Fort Cody, built of heavy logs with sentry towers and "armed Guards", is a replica of the fortifications of the 1860 to 1875 era - the days of Buffalo Bill, Indians and early settlers. Giant murals, "The Life of Buffalo Bill", painted by the famous Western artist, Gene McConnell, is on exhibition, free to the public, open seven days a week. North Platte is truly proud to be the home of the old Buffalo Bill ranch, now a Nebraska State Park.
