New Kensington is located 18 miles northeast of Pittsburgh, along the scenic Allegheny river. Advantages which have made New Kensington one of the outstanding cities of the Western pennsylvania were recognized by the Allegewi Indians - hence the name Allegheny - who inhabited this area centuries before the coming of the white man. Parnassus, a part of New Kensington, is the oldest portion of the city proper. The manufacture of aluminum products is New Kensington's principal industry. |
