This photograph, preserved in the Dr. Michael J. Clarke Museum of Ozarks Scouting Archives in Springfield, Missouri,is the first in a series of collectible postcards. The Springfield Missouri Boy Scout Band was the world's largest,active from 1920-1949, at one time boasting 440 members. Under the direction of conductor, R. Ritchie Robertson, the band played in many towns throughout the Midwest, at the 1933 Chicago's World's Fair and once played under the direction of John Philip Sousa. In 1926 two records were made under the Brunswick label. newsreels were filmed the same year and were played in theatres throughout the country. The museum houses a large collection of photographs and memorabilia from the band and is the site of reunions of band members. Digital recordings are available of the two records and newsreels
