Passive Seismic Experiments Package (PSEP) deployed on the moon's surface. Two packages were left on the moon for seismic purposes. The PSEP is to record moon quakes or other disturbances. The Laser Ranging Retro-Reflector is to measure the exact distance of the moon from the earth. Astronauts' footprints on the lunar surface are in evidence. While this equipment was left on the moon, the astronauts brought back 2 boxes of lunar rocks for scientific research. The first close-up examination of moon rocks and dust created excitement among scientists and geologists
