Iowa has its State Capitol in Des Moines. Iowa,
known as the "Hawkeye State," was admitted to the
Union in 1846, and has an area of 56.025 square miles. The
State flower is the wild rose. Iowa took its name in 1838
from a tribe of Indians living within its borders.
