Additional Details:
Just beyond Bretton Woods, is essentially a rallying point for those who are desirous of making the ascent to Mt. Washington's breezy summit, but there are not a few who make it their permanent summer headquarters. It was a member of the energetic Crawford family who built the original hotel at this place, and which was, in 1837, acquired by a Portland man named Fabyan. This house was burned in 1853, and the present structure was built in 1872, and opened in 1873. It has accommodations for about 400 guests
