C-39 transport, forerunner of world-famous C-47, was composite of Douglas military and civilian designs. Douglas delivered 35 C-39s to Air Corps in 1939 including this one displayed at Air Museum, W-PAFB, Ohio. C-39s evacuated American personnel from Philippines to Australia in December 1941.
