Cast by Naylor-Vickers & Co., Sheffield, England, in 1860. Brougth around the horn to San Francisco, thence to Placerville, arriving in April 1865. It was first used April 19, 1865, when it tolled at the time funeral services were held throughout the nation for our martyred President, Abraham Lincoln. The Bell is cast steel, weighing 740 lbs. The clapper alone weighs 90 pounds
