568 THE IRVING LANGMUIR LABORATORY New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology Socorro, New Mexico The Irving Langmuir Laboratory, named in honor of the Nobel Prize winner, is a research facility of the New Mexico Institute of Mining and Technology in Socorro, New Mexico. Located at the top of a 10,400 foot high peak in the Magdalena Mountains west of Socorro, the laboratory is designed for the study of atmospheric phenomena.
