Site of Washington's First Real Battle, On National Highway East of Uniontown, Pa. The results of the battle of Forest Necessity were more far-reaching than any other ever fought on the American Continent. It started the French and Indian War and the 7 years war in Europe. It affected three continents and set the stream of history in a new course. France, England, Prussia. Russia, Austria, Sweden and other powers were involved. It won the territory West of the Alleghanies from the French and the taxes imposed on the Colonies to pay for the French and Indian War led to the American Revolution. congress has voted to erect a monument here and the States of Virginia. South Carolina and Pennsylvania will join in making this a State and National Shrine.
