The petrified forest, a few miles from Adamana
is known as "The Jewel Forest”, the name is
hardly a misnomer, for every particle, and there
are millions of tons, is cornelian, agate, chryso-
phase, amethyst, topaz, and the like. There is
a famous agatized tree, the trunk still intact,
which spans a canyon 45 feet wide; fully 50
feet of trunk overlaps on one side, and both
ends are imbedded in the sandstone.
