Additional Details:
Death Valley Scotty was born Walter Scott in Cynthiana, Kentucky, in 1872 and died January 5, 1954 while on his way to a Las Vegas hospital. There were three men who played a big part in building The Castle. Johnson who put up the money, Scotty who was press agent and the showman, and C.A. MacNeilledge who was the architect. Tunnels below ground connect all parts of the building. There are 18 fireplaces and 5 kitchens. Rugs were made on the island of Minorca and pottery came from Italy. There is as much cement below ground as above, 60 carloads of 1,000 sacks each. The Castle was built on ground that was found not belonging to Johnson. A special act of Congress gave Johnson title of possession, but restricts any future transfer of title
