ictory II, leaving Bradford Island near Fisherman's Cut-
a dredger-cut dividing Bradford and Webb Tract. The free-floating
ferry was built in Stockton, California, by Colberg Boat Works,
and named after her predecessor, Victory 1. Aside from the fact Victory II
is a private ferry, the owner is contracted with a monthly
fee by Contra Costa County-which regards it as a continuation of the county
road system. The pilot-house enables the Jersey Island Ferry
to transport more vehicles. Maximum carrying load is twelve cars.
Approximately 450 loads, or 25-27 tons of corn, are brought across False
River by the 65-foot ferry, from Bradford and Webb Tract
Islands, seasonally.
