The above statistics for each vessel are the combined total for any
one trip. Weight Tons: "Aranui" 4500; "Aramoana" 4300; "Arahanga". 3893
The "Aramoana" and "Aranui" make a combined total of 25 return
sailings weekly. The "Arahanga" timetable varies from day to day
depending on freight to hand. Approximately two return trips per day.
The "Aramoana" commenced the regular service between Wellington
and Picton in August 1962, "Aranui" in June 1966, and "Arahanga"
in December 1972. Between them, the "Aramoana" and "Aranui" carry
some 508.000 passengers, 89,000 passenger motor vehicles, 6,000 trucks
and 513,000 tons of freight in railway wagons per year.
