O'CONNELL STREET, DUBLIN: as it was prior
to the early hours of 8th March 1966. On that day
Dubliners awoke to find the great Pillar, on which stood
a statue of Lord Nelson, had been destroyed by a person
or persons unknown. Dublin was founded by Viking
pirates over a thousand years ago. The lovely city
stands at the foot of the Wicklow Mountains, facing
Dublin Bay and is famous for its magnificent Georgian
architecture.
