ALCOCK AND BROWN MONUMENT
This monument close to Ballyconnelly and 5 miles
from Clifden commemorates the first West-East
air crossing of the Atlantic by John Alcock and
Arthur Brown who crash landed in a bog nearby
on 15 June, 1919.
