Built at San Francisco by Union Iron Works. 502 feet long by 69 feet 6 1/2 inches wide. Mean draft 24 feet 1 inch. Displacement 13,680 tons. Speed 22 knots; horsepower 23,000. Cost $3,750,000. Launched July 21, 1904. Two military masts and four funnels. Complement of 41 officers and 791 men. Main battery - Four 8-in BLR guns in 'rets, also fourteen 6-in RF in broadies. Secondary battery - Eighteen 3-in RF, twelve 3-lb SA, two 1-lb RF, two 3-in F, four 30 caliber A, and two 30 caliber M with two 18-in submerged torpedo tubes
