JACINTO COURTHOUSE - was com-
pleted in 1854 as the county seat of old
Tishomingo County. It went out of
business as a center of government in
1870 when the large county was divid-
ed into Alcorn, Prentiss and Tisho-
mingo. The courthouse has been re-
stored to its original beauty and is ap-
propriately furnished. Work was begun
on restoration of the surrounding
town. It has been placed on the Na-
tional Register of Historic Places.
