THADE MARK
The Black-headed or Laughing Sea-gull. The dark
brown hood from which this species takes its somewhat
inappropriate name, is assumed in spring and disappears
after the autumn moult. Three or four eggs, varying
greatly in colour, are laid towards the end of April, and in
many places they are regularly collected for the market.
