Besides printing all the paper money, United States Government Bonds, etc., and making the engraving plates for them, the Bureau of Engraving and Printing, Washington D.C., also makes all the United States Postage and Revenue Stamps. This view shows the perforating room which occupies 3600 sq ft. Sheets containing 400 stamps each are fed into perforating machines and split in sheets of 100 each and put into packages containing 200,000 stamps and are shipped to postmasters throughout the country. Similar packages are made to order to meet the inquisitions from small post offices. 32,000,000 stamps are made here daily.
