EASTERN AIRLINES
Douglas DC-9-14
Smallest of the DC-9 models, the -14 was the first
to enter service with Eastern, in 1966. Over eighty
DC-9's joined its fleet by 1979, by then the world's
largest.' Traffic growth eventually surpassed the ca-
pacity of the DC-9-14's and they were gradually
withdrawn from service. One of the last to serve
Eastern is shown at Columbus, Ohio, in December
1978, shortly before its retirement.
