engineering college in the state, having been
founded as the New Mexico School of Mines in
1889. It is a research center for Metallurgy,
Geology, Atmospheric Physics, Ground-Water
Hydrology and for many other phases of the ;
broad field of earth science. The work of its
staff is known both nationally and throughout the
world.
