The statue, which marks the Eastern terminus of the famous Cody Road of Yellowstone, was designed by the noted sculptress. Mrs. Harry Payne Whitney, and was erected by the buffalo Bill American Association as a memorial to the famous scout, soldier, hunter and courageeous rider of the Pony Express.
