The B-17 was one of the most famous American airplanes
ever conceived. It made its maiden flight in July 1935, a time
when practically every other bombing airplane of the world
was powered by not more than two engines. The B-17 served
in every combat zone of World War II. The airplane on display
at the Air Force Museum, W-P AFB, Ohio, is a DB-17P model.
