GEM OPALS
The inner play of rainbow-prismatic colors may be seen
from the outside of the stone. There are milk-white
ones with a slight blush, darker colors called "black
opals" are green and blue. Many of these come from
Australia. Still others are red-orange, or fire opals,
often from Mexico. The hardness is 5-6.
