Additional Details:
After painting by Miss Mary Leeds Fulton. Mt. Taylor is the summit peak of the volcanic group known as the San Mateo Mountains. It has an altitude of 11389 feet. The mountains are known as the Sacred Mountains of New Mexico, the same as the San Francisco Mountains are known as the Sacred Mountains of Arizona. The view of them is best seen between the stations of McCarty's and Grant's, New Mexico. They lie some distance north of the tracks, yet the view seen is one of grandeur. On the north side of the mountain there is a small spring sacred to the Indians
