Additional Details:
This picture made from a lofty position in the mountians from a 40 foot ladder arranged on an especially constructed staging 30 feet high Many hours of watchful waiting were required to make this remarkable photo. The nest is built of rough sticks on top of dead maple high up in the mountains. A dead fish is seen in the nest. The American Eagle lives almost exclusively on fish, which he catches by falling fast with closed wings like a lightning bolt from the considerable height at which he soars above land and sea. Only five pairs have been known to frequent this part of the country since 1908 when last census was taken.
