Each Memorial Day weekend Point Mallard Park holds the Alabama Jubilee,
a weekend filled with all types of family entertainment from fiddlin' contests
to bluegrass bands. One of the events is the Balloon Federation of America
sanctioned Hot Air Balloon Race. There are races on both Saturday and
Sunday, and thousands of spectators gather to watch as the brilliantly
colored balloons are rolled out, inflated, and flown off into the quiet solitude
of the blue Alabama skies.
