Y., only a few blocks removed from the scene of Beecher's greatest triumph, is a fitting tribute to the great preacher-statesman and philanthropist by those who knew him best. As a lad of fourteen it fell to my lot of deliver papers to Mr. Beecher in his study in Indianapolis, in 1844, and long before he had acquired the great fame awaiting him. My most vivid recollections of him were his cordial, kindly greeting and his fondness of his great, bit let cat always to be seen near him. He was truly a great man.
