It was to the 76 House in the quaint old village
of Tappan, twenty miles from New York, and one mile
West of the Hudson River that the British Spy, Major
Andre was conducted and imprisoned after his capture
near Tarrytown, and monument marks the spot where
he was hung at the rear of the House.
