Shuffleboard was popular on early steamships, like the
Red Star liner VADERLAND, at the turn of the century.
The Red Star Line card “J-2" depicts a typical deck scene
with passengers playing this traditional'deck game while
others try to spot a passing steamer on the horizon. This
card, issued in 1907, also shows the fashions of this
romantic era.
