Love, by Ed Little - 25c First Day of Issue: October 22, 1988
Additional Details:
First Issue Location: King of Prussia, Pennsylvania The word adorns coffee cups, and T-shirts, children's toys and elegant jewelry. It is found at the end of personal letters, in movie titles, and throughout many a popular tune. It is the theme of countless television shows and novels. It is, of course, love. And it carries with it the joy of American life. From the "love" of good friends, to the "love" of one's life, to the "love" for one's family, this particular emotion plays an important role in achieving happiness. With it, much else can be taken in stride. Without it, sometimes all seems lost. Thus, love is a vital part of culture--a goal worth striving for and, once achieved, worth telling the world about. In 1988, the United States Postal Service chose to commemorate this heartwarming sentiment in three different postal issues, all proclaiming and celebrating the wonderful joys of "Love." The first-class stamp here honors the special occasion of love. Included in the 1988 Special Occasions Booklet, thie "Love" stamp bears a new design - a new way to say, "I Love You."
