GREETINGS FROM CHARLESTON, WEST VIRGINIA
Capital of the state, Charleston was founded in
1794 and named for Captain Charles Clendenin. The
Kanawha River seen in this picture runs into the
Ohio River at Point Pleasant and is open to naviga-
tion. The Kanawha Valley Region, consisting of
Charleston, Belle Dunbar, Nitro and South Charles-
ton, is one of the world's largest chemical centers.
