Aerial view of Spartanburg, South Carolina. Spartan-
burg is located in the rich, rolling Piedmont section of
South Carolina among the foothills of the beautiful
Blue Ridge Mountains. The name is derived from
the "Spartan Rifles, an area unit of Colonial
forces under General Daniel Morgan. It was
chartered by the South Carolina Legislature on
December 17, 1831.
