View of Claremont from Grant's Tomb. Claremont
is of more than ordinary interest. The original structure,
built in 1775, has been beautified and enlarged and is 909
fashionable dining resort. During its day, Claremont has
entertained men famous in history, among them being
George Washington and Daniel Webster. The Hotel
commands a magnificent view of the Hudson, Palisades,
Jersey shore, Riverside Drive, and Grant's Tomb.
