USNS GEN. M. M. PATRICK, oper-
ated by the Navy's Military Sea
Transportation Service, was built
at Richmond, California, in 1944
by Kaiser Co., and is named in
honor of Maj. Gen. Mason Mathews
Patrick, Chief of Air Services dur-
ing World War I. A troop and de-
pendent carrier, the Patrick is 523
feet long, 72 feet wide, has a
gross weight of 13,000 tons, and a cruising speed of 17
knots. The Patrick is seen here steaming through Elliott
Bay with Seattle in background,
