BROWN GATE is located at the southeast corner of the
middle campus of Brown University, close by the John Carter
Brown Memorial Library, dedicated May 17th, 1904. It was
presented by Mrs. John Nicholas Brown' in memory of her
husband, a member of the class of 1885, and who died May
1st, 1900. The corner stone was laid December 9th, 1903.
