Here Lafayette was feted in 1826. The historic St. Louis Cathedral was erected 1713 by Don Almonaster Y. Roxas, a wealthy, Spaniard who donated it to the parish. Rebuilt 1700 present building 1794. Cabildo contains a has museum of art, historic items and antiques. The State Historical Museum contains in moment documents and books.
