the Leopard, which is also called the Panther, is common to Asia and Africa. It is a subtle and crafty creature, and climbs trees with wonderful agility, from the branches of which it drops upon its unsuspecting prey. It is also a cruel and bloodthirsty creature, often killing when not hungry, merely for the pleasure of destruction. As it lives among the branches of trees, it is aspecial terror to monkeys and other arboreal animals."
