This new million dollar lift bridge spans the
Sacramento River at 'M' Street on Highway 40. The
lift span weighs 2,300,000 pounds, counter bal-
anced with an equal weight and is 200 feet long.
At flood stage it has 100 foot clearance and
one of the highest bridges in the world of
lift bridge type.
