Additional Details:
One of the 140 buildings on the 300 acre campus, the auditorium has a seating capacity of 1,000. It is used for general assemblies, picture shows, and religious worship. The student body of 2,200 Navajo Indians, ages 12 to 18, comes from the 16 million acre reservation in northern Arizona and New Mexico. These poverty stricken children lived in one room, earth floored hogans, and knew on English before coming here. A special Five-Year Program emphasizes the three R's, white man's customs, and vocational training. Academic progress and social adjustment are amazingly rapid. Visitors are always welcome.
