The St. Louis Zoo, which is one of the great z
municipal enterprises which have made the city
so well known for its progressiveness and civic
energy, has been developed into one of the chief
zoological gardens of America. Huge steel and
ce crete structures house a comprehensive col.
lection of wild animals, while in similar build-
ings, especially planned, are seen the massive
animals such as elephants, hippopotami and oth-
ers. Roving animals of a hundred species are
confined in ample and steel-fenced yards.
