Contains about 1,000 acres, located in La Salle County. One of the first objects the tourist observes on his arrival at this Park, and one which he is sure to pay a visit, is this historical monument STARVED ROCK-from which the Park derives its name. How odd it seems today to view this strange reminder of the past-this pre-historic monarch, standing thus for unnumbered centuries, defying wind and weather: festooned with foliage: upon its summit forest oaks and singing pines lifting high their heads in majesty, while echoing cliff's resound their anthems day and night!
