Additional Details:
Billings – named for Frederich Billings, a railway promoter. He was one of the original stockholders of the Northern Pacific Railway. The townsite of Billings was platted in 1882 after arrangements could not be made with the Coulson People. It was a small town located where the Northern Pacific Railroad bridge spans the Yellowstone river. The village of Billings just up the river soon surpassed Coulson in size.
