This former Cunard liner was built in the early 1930's in Clydebank, Scotland. Keel laid Dec. 1st, 1930, keel to top of funnel 181', Draft 39' 4-9/16", gross tonnage 188,237. There were 1174 officers and crew, passenger capacity 1,957 persons. Each of four manganese bronze propellers weigh 32 tons with a diameter of 18 feet. The rudder weight is 140 tons. The ship carried three anchors of 16 tons each with 990 feet of chain for each. The last trip was made Feb. 27th, 1970 when nine tugs moved the Queen to pier J. This proud ship was part of a great tradition of service and an inspiration to the people of the world. She came to rest in Long Beach, California, after 1000 round trips across the Atlantic . . .
