It is located in Rantoul, Illinois, approximately 125 miles south of Chicago and 10 miles north of Champaign, Urbana. The field houses about 22,000 men. The front features large block letters spelling "CHANUTE FIELD" with various scenes of the base inside, including planes, hangars, training, and buildings. |
