Additional Details:
The City of Alexandria is so closely identified with George Washington that it could easily be called his home town. Mt. Vernon is but 7 miles away, but he maintained a town house and owned considerable property in Alexandria, and are also most of his best friends lived. Alexandria is a great railroad and shipping center, but of chief interest for the visitor is its historic significance.
