William Worrall Mayo, born May 31, 1819, in Manchester, England, first arrived in Minnesota in 1855, moving to Rochester in 1863. Minnesota is the inspiration of the Clinic dates to the time of the cyclone in 1883, although the first portion of the present building did not come into being until 1914. |
