This graceful tower is a memorial to the 1,795 Virginians who fell in the World War and to the 90,000 survivors who served in the armed forces of their country. Located on a commanding site in the principal park of the Virginia capital, the war memorial was erected by the Commonwealth of Virginia. It rises to a height of 240 feet, and contains a carillon of 66 bells on which concerts are frequently given.
