For most of thirty-five miles the road from Loveland to Estes Park follows the Big Thompson Cañon which now squeezes thru some narrow pass, now gently winds thru some meadow while everchanging views of high rocky walls unfold themselves on either side. At times the road hugs the base of the cañon walls so sheer and high the eye grows dazed looking upward and at others crosses and recrosses the stream to find a passageway.
